Spring Camper? Stay Warm in the Wet With a Great Sleeping Bag from the L.L. Bean Spring Sports Weekend

Here at PrimaLoft®'s global headquarters in Albany, NY, it may have been 55 degrees and sunny yesterday, but it was 34 degrees this morning with a light coating of frost. Whether you live by the Adirondack Mountains, the Cascades, or anywhere in between – when it’s spring, you never know what weather will grace the day. The plus side is all of the new ways to play outdoors once the snow melts and the ice thaws – trail running, camping, kayaking and my personal favorite, mountain biking, included. This is joy of the season my friends, and there’s no way around it if you want to get outside. You have to be prepared.

L.L. Bean Spring Sports Weekend

PrimaLoft® brand partner L.L. Bean is celebrating the arrival of spring this weekend with the L.L. Bean Spring Sports Weekend at stores nationwide and online - where all paddling, camping, and biking equipment is 20% off.  So now is the time to pick up the sweet new gear you want for the warmer months. There will be clinics available if you are a beginning kayaker, need to tune up your bike, or want some spring camping tips. PrimaLoft® will also have a presence in our hometown store (Colonie Center, Albany) showing off the latest ultra-lightweight, packable, insulated spring arrivals.

Speaking of which, if you are looking for a synthetic sleeping bag, you need to check out the bags from our friends at L.L. Bean. You already know that PrimaLoft® can keep you warm even when wet, and it is water resistant. L.L. Bean’s stores are stocked with PrimaLoft®-insulated gear, including the new Ascent Packaway Pullover, which stuffs into its own pocket, and L.L. Bean is carrying two PrimaLoft®-insulated sleeping bags worth a look; both well-designed for this season’s variable conditions.

The L.L. Bean Katahdin, available in 20 degree and 35 degree versions, and all-new Ultralight 30° are just what the doctor ordered for spring’s sometimes sketchy weather.

L.L. Bean Katahdin

The L.L. Bean Katahdin has been given heaps of praise from Backpacker Magazine’s editors in the 2011 Gear Guide, even calling it, “a perennial favorite among our more utilitarian testers.” The ultimate bag for camping during the rainy season, the Katahdin bag is well-contructed and a great value at $129 (35°) to $139 (20°). Designed with continuous filament PrimaLoft® INFINITY, this sleeping bag is extremely durable, is water resistant for those rainy spring weekends, and has no problem taking a bath in the washing machine when you get back from a camping trip.

L.L. Bean Ultralight

The all-new Ultralight 30° bag from L.L. Bean is for the backpackers that like to hang out in the high elevations, while travelling light and fast. This bag combines the light weight and compressibility seen on a good down bag, with the moisture resistance that PrimaLoft® offers. Made with short staple PrimaLoft® SPORT and weighing in at only two pounds, the bag is warm wet or dry, yet compresses into a stuff sack not much bigger than a standard-issue 32oz water bottle. This new Ultralight 30° bag is a serious bag for those that demand serious performance.

Both bags are included in the L.L. Bean Spring Sports Weekend sale, so if you are looking for a foolproof sleeping bag for camping and backpacking in the rainy season, check them out this weekend online (with free shipping perks) or at a retail store near you. Make sure to bring an umbrella though, you never know what weather you’ll get.
