The 2013 SWATCH Freeride World Tour by The North Face, is the result of the recent joint venture between the SWATCH Freeride World Tour, Subaru Freeskiing World Tour and The North Face Masters of Snowboarding presented by PrimaLoft® into one unified global championship series, creating an elevated level of competition for big mountain skiing and riding. The new six-stop world tour will include freeride skiing and snowboarding competition at each stop, with an invitation-only roster of professional athletes along the tour. The 2013 tour locations include Revelstoke, Canada (Jan. 7th), Courmayeur-Mont-Blanc, France (Jan. 19th), Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France (Jan. 26th), Kirkwood, California, USA (Feb. 21st), Fieberbrunn-Pillerseetal, Austria (March 9th), with the tour concluding at the Verbier Xtreme, Switzerland (March 23rd).

The Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival is one of the flagship programs of The Banff Centre. As one of the world’s pre-eminent mountain festivals, the Festival began more than 35 years ago in 1976 in the small Rocky Mountain town of Banff, Alberta. What began as a one-day festival of climbing films, has now blossomed into a nine-day event in Banff and a year-round, global film tour which encompasses over 500 screenings on all continents. Alpine Athlete Film Tour

Their joint 2011 film tour was such a hit that DYNAFIT, the ski touring and mountaineering sports specialist, and PrimaLoft®, the innovative producer of insulation materials, will once again present “cliff-hanger” films featuring all aspects of alpine sports. This year the renamed “ALPINE ATHLETE FILM TOUR” will give audiences the chance to vote for their favorite film after each screening. At the end of the tour the winning filmmakers will be presented with the equally new “ALPINE ATHLETE FILM AWARD” along with prize money in recognition of their achievements. To make it more fun, prizes and top quality gear will be raffled among the spectators. The ALPINE ATHLETE FILM AWARD allows the two brands to promote the themes of the films which will be screened in cooperation with retail partners at 31 locations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy and Spain from October 16th to mid-January. The “ALPINE ATHLETE FILM AWARD” adds to the suspense. Spectators and filmmakers alike will be kept in the dark until the end of the tour as to which film will ultimately receive the award.
